Getting caught up! Here's the last two video messages. Enjoy!
Mosiah 18:9 - Yea, and are willing to mourn with those that mourn; yea, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort, and to stand as a witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places that ye may be in, even until death, that ye may be redeemed of God, and be numbered with those of the first resurrection that ye may have eternal life

A Message of Most Importance!
Last night as I was on the treadmill, this conference video of President Nelson popped up and it really spoke to me as I had been reflecting on a new video I had just made about what happens after we die. These words particularly jumped out at me as I listened.
"The spirit in each of us naturally yearns for family love to last forever. Love songs perpetuate a false hope that love is all you need if you want to be together forever. And some erroneously believe that the Resurrection of Jesus Christ provides a promise that all people will be with their loved ones after death.
In truth, the Savior Himself has made it abundantly clear that while His Resurrection assures that every person who ever lived will indeed be resurrected and live forever, much more is required if we want to have the high privilege of exaltation. Salvation is an individual matter, but exaltation is a family matter.
Listen to these words spoken by the Lord Jesus Christ to His prophet: “All covenants, contracts, bonds, obligations, oaths, vows, performances, connections, associations, or expectations, that are not made and entered into and sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise … are of no efficacy, virtue, or force in and after the resurrection from the dead; for all contracts that are not made unto this end have an end when men are dead.”
So, what is required for a family to be exalted forever? We qualify for that privilege by making covenants with God, keeping those covenants, and receiving essential ordinances.
I feel to say to my reticent friends:
'In this life, you have never settled for second best in anything. Yet, as you resist fully embracing the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, you are choosing to settle for second best.
“The Savior said, ‘In my Father’s house are many mansions.’10 However, as you choose not to make covenants with God, you are settling for a most meager roof over your head throughout all eternity.'"
I absolutely love this talk and feel it is one of the most important messages we could be sharing right now with our friends, loved ones, and the world!

Understanding the Covenant Path
A friend of mine typed this up and sent it to me last week and I found it valuable to share here. I had actually been studying the covenant path because it was the theme of General Conference. I was so happy he took the time to organize this in the outline below. As mentioned in my upcoming video message, it's so important for us to re-visit the covenants we have made and understand how they help us become like our Savior.
“The Final Judgment is not just an evaluation of a sum total of good and evil acts—what we have done,” taught Elder Dallin H. Oaks of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. “It is an acknowledgment of the final effect of our acts and thoughts—what we have become. It is not enough for anyone just to go through the motions. The commandments, ordinances, and covenants of the gospel are not a list of deposits required to be made in some heavenly account. The gospel of Jesus Christ is a plan that shows us how to become what our Heavenly Father desires us to become."
COVENANTS I HAVE MADE / STAYING ON THE COVENANT PATH
1) Baptism /Confirmation of Holy Ghost
Baptismal Covenant - Mosiah 18:8-10

8 And it came to pass that he said unto them: Behold, here are the waters of Mormon (for thus were they called) and now, as ye are desirous to come into the fold of God, and to be called his people, and are willing to bear one another’s burdens, that they may be light;
9 Yea, and are willing to mourn with those that mourn; yea, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort, and to stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places that ye may be in, even until death, that ye may be redeemed of God, and be numbered with those of the first resurrection, that ye may have eternal life—
10 Now I say unto you, if this be the desire of your hearts, what have you against being baptized in the name of the Lord, as a witness before him that ye have entered into a covenant with him, that ye will serve him and keep his commandments, that he may pour out his Spirit more abundantly upon you?
My Part of the Covenant:
- Serve him & keep his commandments
- Desire to come into the fold of God
- Take upon you the name of Christ
- MINISTERING
- Bear one another's burdens
- Mourn with those that Mourn
- Comfort those in need of comfort
- Stand as a witness of God in all places
- Redeem you from your sins
- Numbered you among those of the 1st Resurrection
- Give you Eternal Life
- Pour his spirit out more abundantly upon you
Sacrament Covenant Renewal
- Blessing on the Bread
- O God, the Eternal Father, we ask thee in the name of thy Son, Jesus Christ, to bless and sanctify this bread to the souls of all those who partake of it, that they may eat in remembrance of the body of thy Son, and witness unto thee, O God, the Eternal Father, that they are willing to take upon them the name of thy Son, and always remember him and keep his commandments which he has given them; that they may always have his Spirit to be with them. Amen.
- Blessing on the Water
- O God, the Eternal Father, we ask thee in the name of thy Son, Jesus Christ, to bless and sanctify this water to the souls of all those who drink of it, that they may do it in remembrance of the blood of thy Son, which was shed for them; that they may witness unto thee, O God, the Eternal Father, that they do always remember him, that they may have his Spirit to be with them. Amen.
- Eat the bread / in remembrance of his body and be a witness of Him in all places.
- Take his name upon us, keep his Commandments, and always remember him
- Drink the water or wine in remembrance of the blood that he shed in your behalf.
- We are promised that we will have his Spirit to be with us always if we do the above things.
D&C 84:33-41
33 For whoso is faithful unto the obtaining these two priesthoods of which I have spoken, and the magnifying their calling, are sanctified by the Spirit unto the renewing of their bodies.
34 They become the sons of Moses and of Aaron and the seed of Abraham, and the church and kingdom, and the elect of God.
35 And also all they who receive this priesthood receive me, saith the Lord;
36 For he that receiveth my servants receiveth me;
37 And he that receiveth me receiveth my Father;
38 And he that receiveth my Father receiveth my Father’s kingdom; therefore all that my Father hath shall be given unto him.
39 And this is according to the oath and covenant which belongeth to the priesthood.
40 Therefore, all those who receive the priesthood, receive this oath and covenant of my Father, which he cannot break, neither can it be moved.
41 But whoso breaketh this covenant after he hath received it, and altogether turneth therefrom, shall not have forgiveness of sins in the world to come.
My Part of the Covenant:
- Receive the Aaronic and Melchizedek priesthoods, emphasis on RECEIVE
- Magnify their calling to the priesthood.
- Receive Christ
- Receive the father
God's Part if the Covenant:
- Sanctified / Body Renewed
- Become sons of Aaron, Moses, Abraham
- Become the church, Kingdom, & Elect of God.
- Receive Christ (Second Comforter)
- Receive the Father (Third Comforter)
- Receive All the Father Has
3) Temple Covenants Made During the Endowment
Sacrifice & Obedience
- We agree to obey God's laws and keep his commandments. ( Harken)
- Early followers of Christ agreed to keep the law of Sacrifice by following the laws that were given in the Old Testament concerning sacrificing of animals and the first fruits unto God by following the Law of Moses.
- Followers of Christ , after his atonement, Covenant to give unto him a broken heart and a contrite spirit, as well as to sacrifice of themselves.
- During the temple endowment we receive instructions and make covenants related to our eternal exaltation.
- The Sermon on the Mount / Sermon at the Temple during Christ's Ministry. The Beatitudes show us a stairway to Christ (see image below).
3 Nephi 12:1-12
1 Therefore blessed are ye if ye shall believe in me and be baptized, after that ye have seen me and know that I am.
2 And again, more blessed are they who shall believe in your words because that ye shall testify that ye have seen me, and that ye know that I am. Yea, blessed are they who shall believe in your words, and come down into the depths of humility and be baptized, for they shall be visited with fire and with the Holy Ghost, and shall receive a remission of their sins.
3 Yea, blessed are the poor in spirit who come unto me, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 And again, blessed are all they that mourn, for they shall be comforted.
5 And blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
6 And blessed are all they who do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled with the Holy Ghost.
7 And blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
8 And blessed are all the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
9 And blessed are all the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.
10 And blessed are all they who are persecuted for my name’s sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 And blessed are ye when men shall revile you and persecute, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake;
12 For ye shall have great joy and be exceedingly glad, for great shall be your reward in heaven; for so persecuted they the prophets who were before you.

- All agreements must be made and sealed by the holy spirit of promise, under priesthood authority delegated by the Prophet.
- All contracts not made in this way have an end when men pass into the spirit world and are not effective after the Ressurection.

Our New Tradition!
When we decided to no longer celebrate Halloween last year, I suggested to my kids that since we were axing a tradition/holiday, maybe we could create something new. This opened up their minds to being excited to let go of Halloween, rather than feel like they were missing out. And so, they decided to create a celebration of summer and friendship. A day to celebrate all the wonderful memories we made during the summer and all the wonderful blessings we enjoyed. It was so fun for them to collaborate on what this celebration would be about, and how we could make it special and fun. We agreed that it should not be during the fall season, as it needed to be something totally separate from and not to be confused with Halloween. No "fall costume parties" or "trunk-or-treats" for this family. We agreed to be completely free of Halloween.
If you follow our vlog, then you know that we love to have fun and are definitely not a boring family. As we let go of traditions and activities of the world and of the past, we won't look back, have regrets, or feel we are being deprived. Fall has so much beauty, and we can celebrate it's beauty in better ways that are more pleasing to the Lord. We are entering a new season where all things will be made new. I believe it's the perfect time to create new traditions that align with our family values and the teachings of the Lord. Traditions and celebrations that elevate, strengthen, and build.
Yesterday we threw our first annual Summer's End Party. Each of my kids got to invite their best friend. Now, my kids do love dress-ups, and so we agreed for the theme to be "dress up as something that reminds you of summer". Tatem was a fireman (because of all the summer wildfires), Cambrey was Lady Bug, Paisley was a unicorn, and I was a butterfly. We played carnival games for prizes, made crafts, had a BBQ, and watched a summer movie. It was a beautiful night! We’ll for sure do this again next August.

Revelation on Better Health - Preparation for Great Things to Come!
A few weeks ago, I was thinking to myself how I was so ready to get my body back into shape. I had mistreated it over the summer with little exercise and too many BBQ’s. With so much going on, there just didn’t seem to be enough “me” time. I so much desired more time to pray, ponder, meditate, read, and exercise.
A holistic friend of my mine felt that I needed to try some very expensive and popular products she was using, and that I was would be pleased with the results. A few hundred dollars and 30 days later, I wasn’t seeing the results I had hoped for, and didn’t really care much for the taste of the product. I felt that God had something else in mind for me. I just wanted to cleanse and re-start my body. I wanted to feel good, have energy, and not have to count calories, restrict several food groups, take expensive supplements, or eat nasty tasting products.
The day I was pondering about this, I was looking for something to listen to while I cleaned the kitchen. I had the sudden prompting to hop on over to the Preparing a People Podcast page, and saw that the most recent podcast (#43) was called, “David Warwick Shares his Experience with Longer Fasting for Powerful Revelation and Better Health”. Right away I felt that the Lord was leading me. I have a great immune system and seldom get sick, but I knew that my life could be so much better if I took better care of my body. As I watched the podcast I felt confirmation all throughout that this was what the Lord wanted for me, to improve my health. I was reminded that a couple years ago, I used to do this very thing and yes, I felt amazing!
When the podcast ended I felt such gratitude in my heart, that the Lord was leading me along. With still more kitchen to clean, I went over to YouTube to see what I might find. The very first video in my feed was an older Sid Roth Show video from several years ago, normally I might pass over an older video but when I read the title, “I Supernaturally Lost Weight with NO Diet or Supplements!” I felt the Spirit nudge me. I was so glad I listened as I received a witness as to what I had just heard in the podcast. Around this time, a friend of mine from out of state happened to send me an email of a BYU Speeches video she enjoyed. I thanked her for the video, but honestly forgot to open it as it got lost in my inbox. A month later (this week) I was reminded to go back and find that email and watch the video – not knowing what the video was about.
And yes, I received my third witness. The video is titled, “The Plagues of Prosperity” and I never would have guessed by that title that it would be about the topic of better health. For all who watch it, the best part comes towards the end. Trust me, it’s worth hearing it all the way through.
I’m happy to share that as I’ve been following this counsel, advice, wisdom – whatever you’d like to call it, I have been truly blessed. I can with great confidence say that this is exactly what the Lord wants me to be doing right now and that this is a preparation for greater things to come! Just wanted to share.
I recommend watching the videos below in this exact order, just as the Lord had me do. :)

President Nelson's Calling: A Strong Witness!
Lately, I have been thinking of the many emails and messages that often come my way filled with sincere expressions of alarm and sadness as fellow Latter-day Saints share experiences in regards to friends and family leaving the faith. The Adversary is working hard right now to create confusion and doubt. The tool of his choice, and also that he is currently having the most success with, is spreading the false belief that the Church(leadership) is in apostasy. That during the early years of the Church all was on track, and now we've come to a place where we've fallen off the wagon and therefore, the Lord has left our Church and is turning to others outside of the Church to start over and carry on the work.
Today, I was so happy when I saw that Neil L. Andersen shared these beautiful thoughts on his facebook page last night. The timing couldn't have been more perfect. The power of Sister and President Nelson's words (whenever they speak) is profound. My spirit bumps go crazy and I receive witness after witness that the Lord is using Sister and President Nelson to do His final work in this last hour. The amount of change alone over the past 8 months is a clear witness that the Lord is at the head. He is getting His house in order. He is revealing that final phase so that He can return soon. President Nelson has a unique and incredible work to do unlike any other president before him. Satan is aware of this, and he is desperate. He knows that if he can create fear, doubt, and confusion, he has a shot at frustrating the Lord's plans. Yes, he has been successful with many, as he has destroyed testimonies, marriages, families, trust and confidence in leadership, and he isn't ready to call it quits yet. Though he may triumph at many times (from his limited perspective), God has a greater perspective and His plans and ways surpass our own understanding. All we are asked to do when we can't make sense of what lies before us, is exercise our trust in the Lord while praying for discernment and seeking for that comfort, peace, and witness that only the Spirit can bring. We let go of logic influencing our discernment, and we clear our mind of all the noise. We then go to the Lord in fasting and prayer, and wait on Him to pour truth into our heart. We have to find time to ponder the Lord's voice in scripture, and we must find time to be still and listen as He speaks directly to us.
As you read Elder Andersen's words I pray that you will feel that spirit of peace and assurance that the Lord still heads His Church. He has not abandoned it, but is finishing what He started. Through imperfect people, He accomplishes His purposes.
There are many groups and churches forming throughout the U.S. and South America, made up of former Latter-day Saints who have left the Church or been excommunicated. Not just one group - but many. They share many commonalities such as spreading the message that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is in apostasy and that they have been called take over the work. With the many different choices of groups to join, all declaring a similar message (that they have been called to steer the ship), I have observed that those who are contemplating following them, are confused as to which group to join. Confusion has never been the Lord's method. His pattern is sending a strong, clear witness and peace of mind.
It reminds me of the confusion that Joseph Smith experienced as a young boy. I thought to myself how the Lord didn't work that way during Joseph's time. He didn't call many prophets in the Eastern states to restore His Church in the 1800's - He called one. The Lord's pattern has always been to call one prophet to lead His Church. These different groups (many in the same geographical regions) have such compelling stories and messages that many Saints are struggling with doubts, confusion, and are leaving the Church. It seems to be a growing topic on social media, and I have felt the need to address it in an upcoming video.

After returning to Salt Lake City late last night, Kathy and I have continued to think about and talk about the experiences of the past few days with deep appreciation for the unparalleled experience of being with President and Sister Nelson. Listening to Sister Wendy Nelson bear testimony of President Nelson’s prophetic calling and having her give a glimpse into what it has been like in their home since he became the Lord’s prophet, strengthened the faith of those who listened. Sister Nelson spoke of her own witness of President Nelson’s prophetic calling.
She said, “Two days after President Monson departed the Lord gave me a singular, most distinct experience with my husband. So distinct, so vivid, so clear. Every detail of that experience is seared in my mind and heart forever. Two days later it happened again exact same experience again” (to her alone).
She said that it was “too sacred to share over the pulpit,” but that “because of that I can take any witness stand and testify that Russell Marion Nelson is the Prophet of the Lord. Russell Marion Nelson is the living prophet of the living Lord.”
For Kathy, for me and for many other saints, her comments about revelation were powerful and reinforced our belief, “whether by mine own voice or by the voice of my servants it is the same.”
Sister Nelson explained that in their 12 years of marriage, she had watched the process of revelation and inspiration upon her husband but that since becoming the president of the Church, those revelations have “expanded exponentially.”
She explained, “He keeps a lined yellow pad of paper beside his bed.” Then she declared, “In the morning he holds up a half page to one and a half pages of notes with joy.”
Although she said that sometimes she remains close to him when this process is happening, sometimes she does not. She recounted a night in January when “I got the prompting, ‘move out of bed now.’”
“Two hours later he emerged from the room. ‘Wendy, you won’t believe what’s been happening. The Lord has given me detailed instruction on what I am to do.’”
Sister Nelson said that during the “last eight months it has been an experience to send my husband off to work. He comes back, different than when I sent him off in the morning. I have seen him change at the pulpit. I have heard him use phrases he hasn’t used before. I’ve seen him make changes at the pulpit.”
She said that just a few weeks ago speaking to young adults in a sacrament meeting, “I saw 30 years fall away.”
I, too, would add that it was amazing to me that a man fewer than three weeks away from being 94 years old could go to the pulpit last night in Toronto with no notes, never repeating himself and speaking for 45 minutes, with the audience of 8,000 riveted on him and his message. When I commented on this after the meeting, President Nelson said, “Well, these people have come from a long way. They come prayerfully. The last thing they want me to do is come to the pulpit and read them a talk.” It was an experience of revelation.

Feelings, Healing, & Wolves in Sheep's Clothing
Boy, this summer has really flown by. With the kids out of school and lot's of family activities, trips, and visitors, I feel like I haven't had a spare moment to write, read, and gather my thoughts. You can probably tell by the lack of posts over the past couple weeks. Sometimes I wish I could freeze time and get ahead, or I wish I could clone myself to at least six other me's, so I could get all the things done that I've been working on for so long. Always so many ideas but never enough hours in the day.
In this week's video message, I share the "how to's" of healing feelings and emotions, personal experiences, the gift of discernment, the coming changes, and what to do about modern day wolves in sheep's clothing. It's one of the longest videos I have ever recorded, and the heaviest topics I have ever shared. Would love to hear your thoughts!

The Battle For Your Soul!
I listened to these two episodes the other day back to back and wanted to share. They have a similar message in relation to sharing personal experiences that shed light on the adversary's plans to steal our soul.
The first episode is a recent interview with Mike Simpson from Theta Wellness, who I have mentioned many times in my videos. He helped with a physical health issue and has since helped so many of you. The second episode is a Provo man's story of overcoming incredible hurdles of darkness. Both episodes have a theme of "physical, spiritual, and emotional healing comes after forgiveness."
Enjoy!!

Did the Shift Finally Happen?
What a historical and incredible General conference! This week's video message is about the theme and message of conference. Did the Heavenly shift mentioned in last week's video message come to pass? Do we really understand the magnitude of living in the hour of 11:59 pm?

Spiritual Warfare Strategies for 2018!
Wow! Wow! Wow! Where do I begin?
A week ago, a friend of mine referred me to Graham Cooke and told me to check out his videos on YouTube. All I can say is that I have been spiritually edified and blessed by every video I have listened to. Here are the first two videos I found and absolutely loved!
They tie in so much to everything I have been sharing over the last couple of months in my video messages. There is so much wisdom and truth in Graham's messages and it ties in so nicely to what the Spirit has been teaching me. I just couldn't help but share. Hope you enjoy as much as I have!

A Profound Dream I Had - This Week's Video Message!
2018 is going to be quite the year! I had a profound dream about a personal forecast for the new year that can be applied to all. Part of that message is how loving your enemies is crucial to your spiritual growth and success. I'm amazed at the feedback I've already been receiving about this video in private messages. It truly is inspiring!

Sister Bingham's Message to the World - Did You Hear it?
![]() |

Wow! We truly do have incredible women serving in the General Relief Society Presidency. Last week I came across this address given by Jean B. Bingham at the European Parliament in Brussels on Thursday, 9 November 2017.
Her words are bold and ring with truth. This topic and these bold words are not what you would typically hear in a Sunday Relief Society lesson. Sister Bingham confidently and passionately addressed her message to an audience of scholars and dignitaries at the “Women in Faith: A Freedom of religion or belief perspective” conference. It's a powerful message.
Here is the link to the PDF which includes the references.
Women in Faith: A Freedom of Religion or Belief Perspective

end of life care. Faith informs humanity’s most basic questions such as “Who am I? Why am I here? Where am I going?”
These questions are felt in the yearnings of every human soul to understand his or her situation. A human being must be permitted to find meaning in life, and for the vast majority of individuals that involves investigating, adopting, and even adapting religious beliefs.5 That is why freedom of religion or belief rights are foundational human rights.
I hope to offer some understanding on why religious freedom is such a critical right to empowering women. To that end, I would first like to highlight the importance of religious devotion to women. Second, I would like to show the intimate connection between freedom of religion or belief with women’s other rights.
And third, I would like to describe how laws that mandate women’s belief or behavior can be harmful, even if well-intentioned.
I. The Importance of Religious Devotion to Women
The freedom to search for life’s meaning, and to believe that a higher power has provided that meaning, belongs to women as much as to men. Indeed, an “estimated 97 million more women than men claim a religious affiliation.”
Religious freedom is among the most important freedoms a woman can have in societies where cultural traditions might seek to impose upon her a lesser conception of her life’s meaning. Religion grounds us through life’s high points and elevates us through the lows. Such was the case for a young 14-year old girl who was captured and held against her will. Her nightmare began on June 5, 2002. She was tethered to a tree, deprived of food, forced to consume alcohol and drugs, and raped daily. Here is her story: [http://faithcounts.com/elizabeth-smart-faith-heals/]
Elizabeth Smart lived in a country where she could hold to her faith. That faith carried her through some of the worst things people can suffer. Yet, in a striking contrast, her victimization was committed in the name of religion. When she was found on March 12, 2003, she had been dressed in robes and her face veiled. Her captor claimed to be a prophet. Sadly, Elizabeth’s circumstances are not unprecedented. Women can be the victims of terrible acts supposedly committed in the name of faith. Female genital mutilation, bodily appendages being removed, and honor killings are just a few of those horrors.

Violent acts like these can overshadow the great good that religious faith and devotion can help women accomplish in our society. If women of faith do no recapture the narrative of what their religious devotion means to them, and the negative narrative dominates, unintended consequences could occur. For example, if religion wanes in society, well-intentioned governments could override freedom of religion or belief protections in ways that harm instead of help women. As the largest group currently being proscribed in exercising these rights, women have the most to lose or gain with any changes.
II. Freedom of Religion or Beliefs Link with Women’s Other Rights
I come before you today to assert that protecting women’s freedom of religion or belief empowers them as well as the communities in which they reside. Article 9 of the European Convention on Human Rights reads:
1. Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion;
this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief and freedom,
either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to
manifest his religion or belief, in worship, teaching, practice and
observance.
These rights are part of a seamless whole which cannot be delinked from women without harm to them. The World Conference on Human Rights indicated that “[a]ll human rights are universal, indivisible and interdependent.” The Special Rapporteur for Freedom of Religion or Belief at the United Nations has highlighted the “positive interrelatedness of freedom of religion or belief and
equality between men and women.”
He goes on to say that “[a]n empirical study of 143 countries supports this idea, further noting that ‘countries with no restrictions on conversion, in particular, tend to have higher levels of fundamental freedoms, have better lives for women, and less overall armed conflict.’” Religious freedom creates the optimal environment in which to protect and enhance women’s rights.

bedroom. He now serves a life sentence without parole. His actions were not recognized nor protected as religious freedom rights.
In my own faith’s scriptures, the Book of Mormon, we read of a righteous people who established religious freedom, yet were also able to punish harmful practices, without any contradiction: “[T]here was a law that men should be judged according to their crimes. Nevertheless, there was no law against a man’s belief; therefore, a man was punished only for the crimes which he had done.” (Alma 30:11). It is entirely possible to protect religious freedom but punish the perpetrators of harmful practices against women.
In countries with a good track record of protecting religious freedom, these types of exceptions are well established. The principle of religious freedom does not condone crime, including crimes against women. In fact, faith can be, and often is, a vital comfort to those who are victimized, who are disproportionately women.
III. Mandating Acts of Women’s Faith Can be Harmful
Government bodies are vital to enacting provisions that protect victims. However, if we are not careful, those same provisions can also potentially strip those victims of the solace and peace that they find in their beliefs. Remember what Elizabeth said, about how her belief in God made her a survivor.

religiously acceptable way for them to do so.
Even if the law had good intentions, it did not give women greater freedom but merely imposed a different restriction. Banning their swimming wear isolated women and put them in danger of violence and hostility if they tried to access public spaces when wearing it. Although the nation’s judicial system quickly ruled that such a ban was illegal, courts nor legislatures have always been so quick to recognize when they have erred.
Another example of a woman who was limited by religious restrictions is Meriam Yehya Ibrahim. In 2014, Meriam was put on trial by her government and sentenced to death. Although raised as a Christian by her mother, a court considered her to be Muslim due to her father’s religion. Because of her father’s religion, the court found her marriage to a Christian to be invalid. In their view, Meriam had committed both adultery and apostasy. Imams visited her daily to recite the Koran to her and pressure her to renounce her Christianity.
Eventually Meriam was freed, but not until after spending several months in prison, where she also gave birth to her daughter. When asked about her experience Meriam said "I would never leave my faith. [I]f you don’t have faith you are not alive.”
These struggles remind me of the words of Rabbi Jonathan Sacks, who wrote:
“Violence is what happens when you try to resolve a religious dispute by means of power. It cannot be done…. Just as might does not establish right, so victory does not establish truth.”
Instead of governments compelling what women do, how to do it, and when to do it, we must make sure their human rights—including their right to the religious beliefs of their choice—are respected.
Empowering women should be a priority for all, because they are a potent force for creating a society where peace, religious freedom, and human rights can truly thrive. Carla Kopell, former Senior Gender Advisor at USAID, notes that the potential of women is one of the most underappreciated tools to counter violent
extremism.
Women often have unique and powerful influence in the home and family. Kopell observes that “[a]s community members frequently left behind in conflict zones to maintain the home and care for children and other family members, women and girls often have information and insights that can provide early warning of conflict or the potential for violence. Because they often maintain families under siege, women can help de-radicalize and enable successful reintegration of former extremist group members.”

| Mothers of the 2,060 Stripling Warriors |
These contemporary examples parallel a powerful story in the Book of Mormon, our companion set of sacred scriptures to the Holy Bible. There is an account of a small army of young warriors faced with the task of defending their homeland and people from invaders. These attackers are seeking to deprive them of their freedoms, including the freedom to worship according the dictates of their own sconscience.
Though they were young and untrained, these valiant warriors went off to battle and, miraculously, all returned victorious in the defense of their people. When asked why they had taken on such a formidable task instead of fleeing, they replied that they knew God would strengthen and protect them. They added, “We do not doubt our mothers knew it.” They had been taught by mothers of faith, which helped them develop the faith needed to carry them through their own challenges.
IV. Conclusion
If all individuals understood that the world improves when the situation of women improves, there would be far less heartache in this world. A powerful religious insight in this regard comes from the Bahai, who teach, “The world of humanity is possessed of two wings: the male and the female.
So long as these two wings are not equivalent in strength, the bird will not fly. Until womankind reaches the same degree as man, until she enjoys the same arena of activity, extraordinary attainment for humanity will not be realized; … When the two wings . . . become equivalent in strength,
enjoying the same prerogatives, the flight of humankind will be exceedingly lofty and extraordinary.”
Ladies and gentlemen, friends and colleagues, a bird with one wing will never soar. I invite each of us to look at our own circles of influence and find ways to encourage women’s right to freedom of religion and belief. Let us do all within our reach to empower our sisters, and society, to take wing.
Happy Thanksgiving Weekend!
Hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving!
Something incredible I have learned about gratitude, is the real power it has to transform. It can transform a moment, a circumstance, a life, a relationship, a person, and a heart. The real power happens when expressing it towards anything you might feel normally inclined to complain about. If something goes “wrong” praise God that He is still in control and express gratitude for His will. This shows Him that you trust His plans for you. Express gratitude in ALL things especially the things that hurt the most. Express gratitude and praise for the things you are being taught from the unexpected road bumps in life. It might be a health challenge, a financial trial, a difficult relationship, or an act of unkindness from a complete stranger. Complaining will only pull you further down the path of despair but gratitude and praise towards the Lord will quickly pull you to a higher level where you can feel peace and where you can have a higher perspective from the Lord’s point of view. From this place you can look down upon the “valley of the shadow of death” and see its value and purpose in blessing your life. A unique perspective and understanding that only can come from a place of peace. God has an interesting way of turning what we deem as “bad” into some of our greatest blessings! Even when we don’t see it in the moment, if we exercise trust by genuinely thanking Him in those moments when it seems hardest to do, we often find that suddenly those trials become lighter and often times resolve and disappear much more quickly than we could have imagined. This is something I have learned over the last four years. Gratitude truly is powerful and can take us from the valleys and depths of despair to those beautiful peaks of peace and joy!

The "Science" of Happiness
I am so excited to be able to finally share this here! Because it's about "the science of happiness", I hesitated sharing it here on my spiritual blog, after recently having a prompting to do so.
Just a little background story: I created this workshop a couple of years ago (upon request), and it was designed to focus on the science of happiness - as it was designed for a non-religious setting. I would travel to teach it at state and government organizations to their employees. However, when I made the private recording of it in early 2016, I was able to add a bit of my own personal beliefs to it.
What I loved about teaching this workshop, was that in a round-about way, it would bring people to Christ. It would get the wheels turning in their minds and people would come up to me after the class and want to talk about the gospel. They would tell me that they "felt something" and wanted to talk more about it. I would bring up scriptures that they recognized and suddenly they had this new excitement to go dust off their Bible and read it. Though I never mentioned the gospel, there are subtle annotations that point to it such as the scientific law of "like attracts like" which is essentially the "Parable of the Sower" that Jesus speaks of in the New Testament.
Keep in mind that this workshop has nothing to do with religion or doctrine, it is pure science and research (though I do add my own spiritual thoughts and insight throughout). It's great for explaining how science and Christianity testify of each other. God is the creator of science and as we study the science of happiness (feelings and emotions) we can see and feel His hand in it!
Because I was hired (to create and teach this workshop) I was paid very well for doing so, and therefore was unable to share it for free. When workshop participants requested to have continued access to it, I decided to make the private recorded online series that I have been selling in my store for $40.00. A couple weeks ago, I had a strong prompting to no longer sell this workshop and offer it for free to all on my YouTube channel. I took a break from speaking this year, and have decided if I pick it back up again, I'll design another workshop on a new topic. :)
One thing I'd like to add is that happiness and joy are two different things. This workshop focuses on the science behind the actual feeling of happiness. Many things can help us feel happy, but joy is something of a more eternal nature. It is everlasting! That's something I have touched on this week's video message that I'm still editing. Stay tuned...
Enjoy!

We Sacrifice to Gain
I'm preparing a video message about this topic, but in the meantime wanted to share some thoughts.
I came across this video on Monday and was very inspired by it.This bishop's story is so powerful and humbling! I really believe that those who lose it all in this life, truly gain everything!
I've been getting so many wonderful messages and emails from complete strangers - who are sharing their experiences and adding their thoughts to my blog and video messages. In fact, over the weekend I received a very interesting email that I was impressed to share here. I pasted my response below - leaving the writer's name anonymous.
"Elder Maynes came to preside at our stake conference this weekend. Guess what one of the biggest themes of his message was? False traditions!!!! He said that there are only 2 types of traditions, Celestial traditions and false traditions. The false traditions that he mentioned were corruption, immorality, abuse, violence, and I added dishonesty to the list. He really stressed the fact that we need to repent and to change our behaviors and habits so that we can incorporate more celestial traditions into our lives. He said that we are constantly teaching through the choices that we make. I personally do not have children, but I know that I am an example to my brothers and sisters and that I am teaching a message with every choice that I make for good or for bad. He shared a poem about sheep that stray and how when the sheep stray their lambs follow. Basically when a sheep leaves the ninety and nine it really isn't just the one sheep that leaves the gospel path, but it draws off its lambs with it. He drew a portion of the plan of salvation and drew three paths that lead to each of the kingdoms of glory. It is our adherence to false traditions and our refusal to repent that keeps us off of the path that lead to the celestial kingdom.
The president over our mission also spoke today and he shared a recent experience where he was driving in the middle of rush hour traffic. He was consulting his GPS and instead of offering multiple routes like it often does, this time the GPS app was only suggesting one route and part of it was bright read obviously meaning that there was a huge traffic jam in the middle of the route. He said that he started thinking to himself that there must be a quicker route and turned off of the suggested route in hopes of avoiding the traffic jam. To his dismay when the GPS rerouted it told him that his new chosen path had lengthened his trip time by 25 minutes. He then explained that he started getting upset with himself for being so foolish as to get off the recommended path. He of course likened this to our needing to stay on the gospel path no matter what circumstances may befall us during mortality. I have been appreciating your videos on YouTube. I even read your blog post on the 3 tares. I can see parts of all 3 of the tares in me. The one I feel like I most resemble is the one who wants to stay ignorant. I am still holding back. I am scared that the Lord will ask something of me that I don't want to give and so I am dragging my feet and neglecting vital parts of my spiritual nourishment--personal prayer and scripture study. I am not totally neglecting these practices, but I also feel like I have not been devoting anywhere near enough time to doing them every day.
Thank you for all the good that you are doing. I am sad that people are being so mean to you, and I admire your ability to love these people and your courage to keep shining your light and sharing your message in spite of the opposition that you are facing."
My Reply
"Thank you so much for sharing. That is so neat about your stake conference! Yes, I feel it's a topic that the Lord will keep impressing upon us, because it's a big stumbling block for the saints. I think we all have a little bit of tare in us, but over the coming years, things are going to happen in our lives and in the world that will cleanse our hearts. If we struggle but we want that change, the Lord is going to help us get there if we ask Him. It's all about setting that fear aside, which can be tough to do. I think these coming years will weed the fear out of us. I think about the members of the church who lost their homes in the California fires last week. They experienced fear like they have never known before. They lost everything. They were forced out of their traditions in a way. They now have nothing left to lose. They are starting all over, and I think it will be easier for them to have that mighty change of heart because there is nothing they are holding on to. The Lord wants to help us all get that place where all we need and want is Him. If it doesn't bring us closer to Him, then we have no desire for it in our lives.
I have faith that we'll get there, but in the meantime having patience with ourselves and trusting in God is the best thing we can do :) I know my heart is changing because bullies used to be hard for me to deal with, but now they have no effect on me at all. I went through a big Abrahamic trial a couple years ago and it weeded that fear and those insecurities right out of me. That's why I'm grateful for trials.
P.S. I love the analogy of the GPS route and the path of righteousness. That is so true!
Much love,
Lindsey"

The Three Types of Tares
During conference I had the thought come into my mind that I needed to write a post titled, "The Three Types of Tares". Right after this thought, three different personality types came into my mind of people I had recently encountered last week, and I felt the Spirit teach me that in the parable of the Wheat and the Tares, there is more than meets the eye.
Over the last few weeks I have stumbled upon numerous Near Death Experience testimonies in which the person having the encounter said that they were shown Hell, and were taught something very surprising.
In one particular testimony, a man shared that while visiting Hell, the Lord had shown him a woman who resided there and was reading her Bible.
The man asked, "Who is this woman, and why is she reading a Bible in Hell?"
The Lord replied, "During her life on Earth she was an incredible evangelical missionary - the very best. In fact, she brought more people unto me, than any missionary that has ever lived!"
"Then why is she in Hell?" the man asked in a puzzled tone.
Somberly, the Lord replied, "Because she could not forgive."
I am reminded of the prodigal son. The second brother had stayed true and faithful to his father yet was filled with bitterness. The prodigal son however, made error but repented and was welcomed into his Father's Kingdom to receive an inheritance.
Doctrine & Covenants 64:9-10
9 Wherefore, I say unto you, that ye ought to forgive one another; for he that forgiveth not his brother his trespasses standeth condemned before the Lord; for there remaineth in him the greater sin.
10 I, the Lord, will forgive whom I will forgive, but of you it is required to forgive all men.
None of us are perfect and if we fall short in this life, we can rest assured that if we have extended the hand of mercy to those who have offended us, there is hope for us.
Matthew 5:7
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
In another testimony, a woman was shown many Christian saints who were suffering in a state of agony and darkness. She was told by the Lord that these Christians attended church every Sunday, read their scriptures daily, prayed often, and kept the commandments. When she asked why they were in Hell, the Lord replied that even though they said and did all the "right" things to resemble a good Christian life - they never knew Him. They were void of the Spirit. The religious symbols and rituals became their idols. They loved and worshiped the lifestyle & images, more than the Lord.
Matthew 7:22-23
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
After writing this blog post, I was reading the other day in Days of Awe (which I have shared on this blog before), and I found it interesting that the author brought up the Parable of the Sower and mentioned three personality types. She said,
"The final, lingering question that Latter-day Saints ask is always the same. With all this clear, testifying imagery, why didn’t the Jews recognize their own Messiah? The Savior Himself answered that question with the Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13:3; Mark 4:3; Luke 8:5). Many Jews did recognize the Messiah. They were those who received the seed into fertile ground. Many of those were the valiant founders of the Lord’s Church, willing to face any hardship
to serve the Christ."
"The Savior speaks of a second type of personality — he who receives the word, but fails to nurture it. The “fear of the world” overcomes this person, and he fails to be valiant."
"The third personality in the Lord’s parable is a hardened one who might actively fight against the truth. Such were those certain wicked priests of the Sanhedrin, desiring to protect their power and position by any means available to them. Such a person was Saul, the Pharisee and lawyer, who became the Apostle Paul when his eyes were opened."
The second and third personality type sound very much like the second and third types of tares that I have listed below. In the Parable of the Wheat and the Tares we learn:
Doctrine and Covenants 101:65-66
65 Therefore, I must gather together my people, according to the parable of the wheat and the tares, that the wheat may be secured in the garners to possess eternal life, and be crowned with celestial glory, when I shall come in the kingdom of my Father to reward every man according as his work shall be;
66 While the tares shall be bound in bundles, and their bands made strong, that they may be burned with unquenchable fire.
Doctrine and Covenants 86:1-7
1 Verily, thus saith the Lord unto you my servants, concerning the parable of the wheat and of the tares:
2 Behold, verily I say, the field was the world, and the apostles were the sowers of the seed;
3 And after they have fallen asleep the great persecutor of the church, the apostate, the whore, even Babylon, that maketh all nations to drink of her cup, in whose hearts the enemy, even Satan, sitteth to reign—behold he soweth the tares; wherefore, the tares choke the wheat and drive the church into the wilderness.
4 But behold, in the last days, even now while the Lord is beginning to bring forth the word, and the blade is springing up and is yet tender—
5 Behold, verily I say unto you, the angels are crying unto the Lord day and night, who are ready and waiting to be sent forth to reap down the fields;
6 But the Lord saith unto them, pluck not up the tares while the blade is yet tender (for verily your faith is weak), lest you destroy the wheat also.
7 Therefore, let the wheat and the tares grow together until the harvest is fully ripe; then ye shall first gather out the wheat from among the tares, and after the gathering of the wheat, behold and lo, the tares are bound in bundles, and the field remaineth to be burned.
So, what exactly are tares and why are they so undesirable? I did some research and here's what I discovered;
The darnel weed (" Lolium Temulentum" AKA the "tares") grows plentifully in Syria and Palestine. Before it comes into ear is very similar in appearance to wheat. It grows right in with the wheat blending in and going undetected until the ear appears - that's when the difference is noticed. It actually uproots the wheat. Even then, the farmers do not try to separate it from the wheat. If eaten, it produces convulsions, and even death.
"Zizania", another type of tare, has been supposed to be degenerated wheat. On the near approach of harvest it is carefully weeded out from among the wheat by the women and children. Zuwan is commonly used as chickens' food; it is not poisonous to human beings unless infected with the mold ergot. http://www.biblestudytools.com/dictionary/tares/
In these last days, the tares are Christians and members of the Church who blend in and appear on the outside to be faithful and true. However, on the inside they hold opposing beliefs which are counteractive to gospel and doctrine of the Church. As they become attached to true and faithful members of the Church, they become destructive, and slowly pull their roots from the gospel. Once their roots have been pulled, a spiritual death begins.
As the harvest goes forth, the angels (the reapers) pluck out the wheat and burn the field.
Doctrine and Covenants 45:57
"For they that are wise and have received the truth, and have taken the Holy Spirit for their guide, and have not been deceived—verily I say unto you, they shall not be hewn down and cast into the fire, but shall abide the day."
In our day, the tares have come to ear and are currently being exposed from the wheat. Through political upheaval, local and national turmoil, dislike and non-support of the counsel of local leaders, prophets and apostles, and leaning to blur the lines of black and white (right and wrong), there is a process happening. Many members have lost their testimony of the true doctrine of the gospel, and are inwardly void of the Spirit. As these events of the last days unfold, the tares seek to uproot their fellow church members from the gospel. This apostasy can have three outcomes - their own free choice of leaving the Church (tare #1), unwilling excommunication (tare #2), or slipping quietly into inactivity (tare #3).
It's important to be clear that the tares symbolize a wicked & rebellious heart. Not all who leave the Church are a tare. Some may be deceived and others may have fragile hearts, some may have experienced abuse or unkind treatment from other members (tares). We cannot judge another's heart - only our own. In the end we are judged by what's in our heart. If we know Christ, He will lift us up to be with Him.
Tares can also belong to other churches (other Christians). The parable is to say that tares are those who love wickedness more than righteousness. It's not members vs. non-members or less active. It's about our hearts. In these last days, the Lord is gathering the pure in heart into Zion.
“Charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him. Wherefore, my beloved brethren, pray unto the Father with all the energy of heart, that ye may be filled with this love, which he hath bestowed upon all who are true followers of his Son, Jesus Christ” (Moroni 7:47-48).
I have recently witnessed this week, the separation of wheat and tares happening on a wider scale. I have noticed a large number of people being offended by recent conference talks, people fighting over differing views and opinions on growing political matters, people fighting over differing opinions and views on philosophical matters, medical matters, doctrinal matters, educational matters etc. to the point that marriages are being broken up, family relationships are being broken, friends are no longer speaking, professionals are verbally attacking their colleagues, and people are vocally leaving the church. I counted fourteen people just today, who have declared they no longer want to be members of the Church. Perhaps tares who had already apostatized inwardly and tarried until the "right moment" to make their exit. As the various matters for contention continue to increase I keep hearing in the back of my mind..."And the love of men shall wax cold".
President Joseph Fielding Smith pointed out that the tares are not just limited to certain church affiliations. He said, “even in the Church the tares are to be found. It is the tares which are to be gathered up and burned from all over the world, but those in the Church will also be gathered out and find their place in the fire. (Church History and Modern Revelation, 1:354.)
In 1894 President Woodruff stated: “God has held the angels of destruction for many years, lest they should reap down the wheat with the tares. But I want to tell you now, that those angels have left the portals of heaven, and they stand over this people and this nation now, and are hovering over the earth waiting to pour out the judgments. And from this very day they shall be poured out. Calamities and troubles are increasing in the earth, and there is a meaning to these things. Remember this, and reflect upon these matters. If you do your duty, and I do my duty, we’ll have protection, and shall pass through the afflictions in peace and in safety.” (Young Women’s Journal, Aug. 1894, pp. 512–13.)
Years later in response to President Woodruff's statement above, President Joseph Fielding Smith said, “The Lord said that the sending forth of these angels was to be at the end of the harvest, and the harvest is the end of the world. Now, that ought to cause us some very serious reflections. And the angels have been pleading, as I have read it to you, before the Lord to be sent on their mission. Until 1893 the Lord said to them no, and then He set them loose. According to the revelation of President Woodruff, the Lord sent them out on that mission."
“What do we gather out of that? That we are at the time of the end. This is the time of the harvest. This is the time spoken of which is called the end of the world.” (Signs of the Times, pp. 116–21.)

Three Types of Tares
Last week the Spirit impressed upon my mind, three types of tares that we are to be aware of.
1) Wicked - These are those whose hearts' desire are pure wickedness. They have chosen the other side of the fence. The wolves in sheep's clothing. They knowingly do evil and willfully sin. They desire to lure and persuade others away from the truth. Led away by sin without a desire to repent. These are those in the Great and Spacious building - mocking things that are sacred.
2) Self-Righteous - These are those who often are unknowingly doing the devil's bidding. They believe they are on the right side of the fence, but are deceived. They actively and unknowingly fight against truth, and are easily offended. The pharisees of our modern day. They twist doctrines and present themselves as faithful members of the Church but are in reality servants of Satan. Often hypocritical, and quick to point out the faults of others. They are on a mission to attack other members who do not share their same perspectives. A justified crusade of self-righteous anger displayed through manipulative tactics. So passionate are they about being "right" that they lose the Spirit as it swallowed up in their own pride. They become a source of temptation to the faithful and tend to choke or corrupt the word of God, or the good seed that is sown.
3) Ignorant - These are those who refuse to learn and accept truth because of fear. They have received the word but fail to nurture it. They live the gospel when it's convenient. Often they are the ones who are easily lured away from the iron rod, by those in the Great and Spacious Building. In their mind it is safer to be "in the dark" to avoid accountability. They want to participate in Babylon without feeling "guilty" for doing so. They want to be on both sides of the fence, but because that is not possible, they settle for the middle. Their hearts are rooted in the world instead of the gospel. They enjoy the benefits of being a member of the church - the traditions, the social aspects, the fun activities; but they also value the opinions of the world. They try to serve two masters.
Conclusion
The purpose of this post is not to go about your day looking to label those in your family, ward, and community with these tare titles. We are commanded to love one another. Rather, it is to help you look inward at your own faults and short comings and seek to improve. Do you see yourself in any of these descriptions? What is written in your heart? How can you change?
We can love ourselves and all of God's children without tolerating the darkness. I have experienced recent bullying from all three types of tares in the last month. The Spirit has impressed upon me to not publish their comments, to block their contact, and then pray for them. Pray that they will be able to encounter the real love of Jesus Christ. That they will no longer be void of peace and happiness. I try my best to see them through the eyes of my Heavenly Father, and the truth of who they really are and the potential of who they can become.
Though we are not called to judge, we are called to warn our neighbor. Elder Christopherson has wisely counseled, "While the duty to warn is felt especially keenly by prophets, it is a duty shared by others as well. In fact, “it becometh every man who hath been warned to warn his neighbor." We who have received a knowledge of the great plan of happiness—and its implementing commandments—should feel a desire to share that knowledge since it makes all the difference here and in eternity. And if we ask, “Who is my neighbor that I should warn?” surely the answer will be found in a parable that begins, “A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves,”and so forth."
We have seen amazing examples of tares transforming into wheat such as was the case of Saul of Tarsus and Alma the Younger. The real battle is not between God's children, but between good and evil. Without the influence of evil, we would experience all of our brothers and sisters in God's truth. No, it's not our job to judge, but rather it's our great responsibility to warn and to bring Light into this world. That Light is God's truth. Our job is to reflect the Light of the Lord and shine it throughout the world. Only the Light and Love of Christ can change this world. In the end love conquers all.
The harvest is happening now. We are seeing the separation take place. Let us find peace in the words of President Woodruff, "If you do your duty, and I do my duty, we’ll have protection, and shall pass through the afflictions in peace and in safety.” Though we may not be immune to every coming storms & affliction, and we most likely will experience some level of discomfort, inconvenience, sorrow & loss; we certainly don't have to suffer. We can experience the peace that is promised through our Lord and Redeemer Jesus Christ. He is mighty to save. He can make us whole.
