The Power of God, Becoming like God and False Traditions

A few years ago I discovered a lady named Kat Kerr on YouTube. It was right around the time I was writing The Realm and the timing couldn't have been more perfect. At first glance and just a few minutes into her video I was more curious than convinced about what she was sharing. However as I continued to listen, it didn't take long before I felt the truthfulness of her words. It was as though everything the Spirit had been teaching me, and things I just somehow just already knew, were confirmed through her message.

I love how the Lord works that way. He teaches me truths (many times the truths that most people aren't okay with learning) and then He sends me to the most unlikely and unusual places, through the most unexpected people to confirm them. I always receive the witness of the Holy Ghost confirming it the first time that He places it in my mind and then he always sends me a second and sometimes third witness.

2 Corinthians 13:1

This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.

Doctrine and Covenants 6:28

And now, behold, I give unto you, and also unto my servant Joseph, the keys of this gift, which shall bring to light this ministry; and in the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.

Kat has an amazing story and I would love to meet her someday. Not the typical perfectly polished messenger of the Lord we are used to seeing. I love how the Lord uses His sons and daughters from all walks of life, from all different parts the world and from all backgrounds to help build His Kingdom on the Earth.

We are all doing our part with what we have been given and what we have been taught, to bring others unto Christ.

Lately the Spirit had been sending me gentle nudges to look up Kat Kerr again and watch some of her videos. It has been a couple of years since I have thought about her or watched her on YouTube and after a few nudges from the Spirit I was eager to see what the Lord wanted me to find.

The very first video that came up on YouTube was the very video the Spirit wanted me to watch. It was a recent radio interview and I listened to it while I cleaned the kitchen. There were so many things in this interview that gladdened my spirit and I want to share just a few.

The first message that really stood out to me was when she spoke about believers of Christ having the power to call down the Hosts of Heaven to help fight our battles and protect us. She shared several stories about how calling on this power through our Savior creates fear for the adversary. Evil flees out of fear. I have been teaching my children how to do this and how to ask for shields of light and protection be with them all day, so it was a sweet confirmation to hear this from her. She said if our children would do this each morning before school and called upon the Hosts of Heaven to protect their schools, all school shootings and school violence would be thwarted. When people are being controlled by evil through their own bad choices and agency, and suddenly that evil flees out of fear, those people become powerless. The evil feeds their power as it controls them, but God's power is much greater and causes even evil to shake, tremble and run away.

There is a book that I was led to at the D.I. (second hand store) several months ago and was reading yesterday. It's called The Light Within - What the Prophet Joseph Smith Taught us About Personal Revelation by Jeffery Marsh. Oh how I love this book! In Chapter 8 on page 112 under "Covenant Gifts" he talks about Cornelius and Peter and how they received the promise of the gift of the Holy Ghost and how it is obtained after baptism. Speaking of Cornelius he quotes the prophet Joseph Smith when he writes, "Until he obeyed these ordinances and received the gift of the Holy Ghost, by the laying on of hands, according to the order of God, he could not have healed the sick or commanded an evil spirit to come out of a man, and it obey him."

Those of us who have the gift of the Holy Ghost sometimes forget how powerful we are over evil. There doesn't even need to be a power struggle - it must leave instantly! If you are having a power struggle with it, let that be a red flag and a good opportunity to re-evaluate your covenant keeping, commandment keeping and your faith.

In her interview, the radio host mentioned and spoke highly about Sarah Menet and her experience. I have Sarah's book on this website under my recommended reads. She has an amazing NDE and joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. after learning what she did in the spirit world. I discovered her book several years ago. Kat also brought up that in the next life, we become creators. We create with the Lord. We create life, worlds etc. The radio host went wild with excitement upon this news. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (AKA Mormon), we are taught that we will one day become like our Father in Heaven. He wants us to be like Him and have all that He has. To many other religions and theologians, this teaching is seen as blasphemous.To hear Kat confirm this among the general Christian community was a beautiful witness of something I have always been taught and always known.

It's been on my mind quite often lately, how my home feels so much like heaven. There is so much peace, tranquility, light and happiness. The spirit has been teaching me over the last year how to turn my home into a temple through many new truths. One of the truths I was taught was about skulls. A year ago it was brought to my attention that skulls truly represent death, and wearing them or displaying them, attracts negative energy. I went home and cleaned out anything in our home that had skulls on it (there wasn't a lot but my three-year old daughter had a tiny white, skull necklace that she wore every day). Friends and family members that learned about this, ridiculed me but the Spirit told me I had done the right thing and would be blessed.

After that experience I began to think that if skulls were a tool of the adversary, then so must be all the Halloween decorations such as ghosts, vampires, withes etc. The thought came into my mind "false tradition". In an article from the November 1972 Ensign James T. Dukes says,

"Today, Latter-day Saints must learn to discern and choose between the righteous traditions of the gospel and the evil traditions that surround them."

Just so you know, Halloween has always been my favorite holiday. Over the years, I have won many Halloween decorating and costume contests and thrown some amazing family parties. I enjoyed literally turning my home into a real looking haunted house (not tacky looking, but the real deal) and watching as cars would drive past our home real slow and take pictures. I loved the music, the movies - all of it!

This year however, the Spirit told me that if I truly wanted my home to be a temple "all of the time" I had to treat it as such "all of the time". Would I adorn the Lord's temple with creepy goblins and giant spiders? Would I hang ghosts and play creepy music in the Lord's house? No way! Then why would I do it in my own?

My kids and husband were not happy with my decision to focus more on celebrating Fall and the harvest. The cute little pumpkins and leaves everywhere were enough to make them want to pull their hair out. They longed for our old traditions and seemed quite sad. My own mother even thought I was ridiculous and commented, "I'm still a good person and I have skulls all over my home". I had to clarify that decorating for Halloween doesn't make anyone a bad person. It only allows the adversary to feel welcome and comfortable in your home, place of business or worship. I can truly testify that not putting up all the creepy decorations this year has only filled our home with more light, love and peace. I have even convinced my children to pick costumes that aren't spooky. I don't think we'll be banning the holiday all together, we'll just redefine it to focus on the beautiful season of Fall and expressing gratitude four our harvest.

I remember last year at our church Halloween party, I started to feel a little strange about seeing demons, zombies, and gore inside our beautiful church building. It just didn't seem right. That is the place where we worship the Lord. Why would we defile it with images that represent Satan and his mission? We were guilty ourselves. My son was a Zombie chef and had a fake bloody kitchen knife and apron for his costume. Because Halloween is such a strong tradition in our culture, it would make so many upset to even think that it's a tradition that God doesn't approve of. It doesn't come from Him or celebrate Him. Had someone told me this even 5 years ago, I would have been angry myself. The Spirit has been showing me many false traditions in our culture and they aren't pretty. I'm in a place where I just want to do all that I can to keep the Spirit in my life and around me daily. I have been asking the Lord to show me how to always do this and He has been showing me by revealing many false traditions. Many good people are being deceived.

Now, this change is gradual with my family. They still want to put spooky cobwebs, spiders, strobe lights and play organ music in our car for the neighborhood trunk-or-treat, as well as on Halloween night. At least a step up from the creepy looking spirit decals we used to have on our windows. They were pretty frightening!

To my surprise, Kat mentioned this in her interview. I felt that warm confirmation from head to toe as the Spirit whispered, "This is truth". She talked about skulls, Halloween all of it. Around 1:24:22 into the video she talks all about it. I pasted the video below.

I thank the Spirit and praise the Father for showing me and teaching me truths that sometimes are difficult to hear or accept. But when I do, my life changes for the better in every way possible. In order to be able to win the war of good vs. evil on this Earth we have to be in constant contact with our Heavenly Father, asking Him to show us how to be worthy of the Spirit in our lives. We need to be in a good place where we can receive revelation minute by minute. If we ask, He will show us where we can improve and He will help us do it!

Being in the Right Place at the Right Time (to Help the Right Person)

I copied and pasted this from my FB page. It's an experience that happened to me last Saturday....

Just want to share a simple but beautiful experience. I woke up this morning at 6:30 AM wide awake. The spirit told me to go to the Bountiful temple right away. So I did. When I got the temple, it was so busy there was an hour wait for initiatory. I waited. I felt a voice say, "everything happens for a reason. All is well." When I came out, a lady stepped right into my changing room, so I had to wait. I felt a voice again say, "Everything happens for a reason. All is well." I then felt that someone was about to turn the corner and I was in "the right place at the right time". Just then a sweet sister turned the corner and her eyes lit up when she saw me. "Oh my goodness how are you?" she said. She looked familiar but I couldn't place how I knew her. As we began to talk she refreshed my memory of how we had met several months prior. It had been another one of those moments where the spirit told me to attend a class in Farmington. It was a class I had attended before and didn't understand why I would need to go again. But I went. When it had ended, I felt I needed to stay and just wait in a corner...so I did. That was when I met this sweet lady and her sister. We talked that night how our meeting was meant to be. Something happened that night too sacred to share here, but it was then I knew that, that had been the reason I was prompted to go. So I could have that experience and meet these beautiful ladies. ...fast forward to today. The lady told me that she had been woken by the spirit at 5:30 AM and told to go to the temple. So she did. She had been having a very rough week and praying for answers and help for peace, happiness and healing. The spirit told her to go to the temple and she would find her answer. When she ran into me, we began to talk and the things I began to share were the answers she was seeking. I had no idea. She said she has seen my picture a lot lately and I had been on her mind but she didn't know how to find me. I gave her my number and I'm so humbled and happy to see what happens from here. I just wanted to share how awesome the blessings are when we are in tune to the spirit, obedient, and allow the Lord to use us has instruments in His hands. So happy today!!

Update...

Just an update from my temple story. A month ago, the Lord told me he would start to send people into my life whom he wanted me to help and to be ready at all times to help them. I have been humbled at how amazing his orchestrations are. I continue to be in the right place at the right time to help the right person. If off by just a minute or slight distraction these moments wouldn't happen. He is amazing!!

A Modern Sign in the Heavens

Last weekend we were sitting in the driveway waiting for fireworks to start and we noticed the bright stars in the western sky. There were two that were very bright, the brightest in the sky that my children were drawn to. I immediately said, "Those are not stars, that's Jupiter and Venus".

I wondered why I had said that. It felt as though I had always known that but my brain was wondering if it were true. My husband pulled out his phone with his astrology app that maps the sky, and he confirmed what I had just said.

Not realizing at the moment that I was in the midst of witnessing a sign in the heavens, I enjoyed the beauty of those planets (stars).

A few days later my sister called me and  told me that the planets Jupiter and Venus were about to align for the first time since Jesus was born. She told me to watch at 9:30 pm.This was the star of Bethlehem? I was very interested to learn more. Unfortunately that night there was a large thunderstorm that came though. In fact, earlier that day the radio station was interrupted by an alert from the Emergency Broadcast System warning us the Salt Lake City would be hit with quarter sized hail and severe lightening and that residents were to go inside an move to the lowest level of their homes for safety. I had never heard that before and my son and I looked at each other with an eerie feeling. Sure enough the big storm came,and because of it we were not able to see the planets lined up.

As I decided to learn more I watched this incredible video that my sister shared with me about this star. Because the video was from 2007 I wondered if anything new had been observed about meanings behind this Bethlehem Star appearing again this week? Was there meaning to this? Any prophecies?


I found this article that was quite the eye opener for me. Though all it could say about the star this week was that it indeed is a sign that the Savior will return, it mentions many other prophecies being fulfilled and is very interesting.

This is the year of the Shemitah and I don't find it just a coincidence that the Star of Bethlehem is making it's second appearance during this year. It appeared at Christ's first coming, and it must now means that Christ is soon making His return. We know according to scripture and LDS doctrine that Christ will make several appearances before His appearance to all the world. Could this sign represent His first appearance in ushering in His final Second Coming?

• Doctrine and Covenants 98:93 And immediately there shall appear a great sign in heaven, and all people shall see it together.
• The national and world headlines in the five days leading up to this sign in the heavens are also a bit interesting. I won't say much about that, but suggest you go take a look. Many match up to events mentioned in prophecy and scripture. 

It's a time to be excited. The Savior is coming sooner than we think!

A Sifting is Coming

I presented at a conference at Weber State University last week. Later, a woman came up to my booth and shared with me a video she had recently put together about warnings from 1971 about the days we now live in. I asked her to send me the link and she decided to change the video form private to public. It's very surreal and powerful coming from prophets who have since passed. Definitely speaks volumes to those who have eyes to see and ears to hear.

I have heard from family members that the leaders in their stakes continue to warn the members that the saints are biggest offenders of breaking the Sabbath and not keeping it holy. The first presidency is worried about the saints and that they are becoming more gray. There is report of some very important training that will be coming down from the first presidency to help prepare the saints to change their ways. A sifting is coming and it's so important to not be sitting on the fence over any commandment.

A Real Voice of Warning

A dear friend of mine shared this experience with me and it has reminded me of the reality of angels in our life. They are always around us on the Lord's errand and protecting us!

I have had many great spiritual experiences, but the most dramatic one was when I was about 16 years old.

My brother had been dating a girl, two counties over from where we lived.  I had been bugging my brother over and over to take me to meet her as their relationship was getting serious, so finally one Sunday afternoon after church he gave in to his little sister and we started driving over to meet her.  We had been driving for a while when an audible voice said to me “prepare for an accident”; I looked over at my brother and said "what did you say?" he responded “I didn't say anything”.  I was taken- back by his answer as I just knew I heard him say that.  

As I was meditating on the situation, the voice came to me a second time and said “prepare for an accident”; I looked over at my brother and ask him again "what did you say?" , he replied again he hadn't said anything; at this response I was getting agitated and I blurted out; "you did to! I heard you!" and he still insisted he hadn't said anything. 

As we were driving along the audible voice again spoke the same words and this time it was so powerful it felt like a bolt of lightning going through my body and I bolted in my seat and exclaimed "OK!"  he now had my attention as he proceeded to give me instructions.  He told me when he said “now” I was to hit the floor and put my arms up over my head. In those days there were no seat belts and I was riding in the front passenger seat known then as the death seat. We drove a little longer and the road was a rolling country road when all of a sudden a car coming toward us was driving in the middle of the road coming straight at us over the top of the hill.  The audible voice said in a very powerful commanding voice “NOW” and I hit the floor putting my arms around my head as instructed. My brother swerved the car to a hard right making the car go out of control and as he swerved a hard left to correct it landed in the ditch; as we continued along the ditch, I kept hearing parts of the car flying apart as I thought we will be next; then all of a sudden we ran into something and the car stopped. 

 The car stopped at a culvert where a bunch of tumble weeds had gathered against it making a big soft pillow where the car came to a soft complete stop. I came up off the floor and looked at my brother to see trickles of blood from his forehead dripping off his nose as he said “sis , are you alright?; I said I was and was so scared I climbed right over the top of him through the driver open side and ran upon the highway.  A lady was swinging on her porch swing and saw the whole accident and as I approached her she let out a blood- curdling scream as if she had seen a ghost, which scared me about as much as the accident.  My brother came up after me and the lady called the police. The police arrived and asked us if we were hurt and my brother said no except a little cut on his forehead and I said I had no injuries at all and was fine; not a scratch on me.  The car was completely totaled with not much left of it.

I have never heard another voice since like that audible voice, only strong mind impressions of impending dangers of which I always pay attention to.  I am so thankful to the guiding voice of that day and plan to ask who that was that helped us when I go to the other side. 

Half Hour of Silence

President Benson was the last prophet to boldly and over the conference center pulpit speak out about communism, socialism, and gadianton societies. Since his time we have moved into a faith, hope, and charity model at conference.

Doing the math, if you calculate 20 years, 9 months, and 20 days since his death, the end of the half hour of silence is on:

20 March 2015 (that is this month)

On the Jewish calendar it falls on New Years Eve and on 1 Nissan because the Jews tell their time from sunset to sunset.

On 1 Nissan this year, or 20 March 2015, we will have the Solar Eclipse in the middle of the blood moon tetrad.

I don't know about the rest of the world, but on top of all that, the Western United States fasted to have the famine of rain and of investigators end by request of the Prophet.

How does the Lord stop a physical drought and a famine of spirituality in the world? He preaches with lightning, thunder, and shaking of the earth. He shakes up governments and economies. Could we see an increase in natural disasters like a early spring meltdown in the east which would cause flooding? Maybe an earthquake in the west. Perhaps even pre-shocks to the economy leading up to the October Shemita judgement?

IT JUST SEEMS TO ME THAT THAT IS A LOT OF COINCIDENCE!

The "WHY" to the 1/2 hour of silence in Heaven

As I thought about it, silence denotes reverence to something special. In sacred events spectators, participants, and bystanders come to attention, and silently stand (or sit) still, while reverently watching. 

Here are a few instances:

Temple ordinances
Sacrament
Birth of a child
The pledge of allegance 
Prayers
Other religious ordinances
At funeral processions and funerals
Weddings 
Other ceremonies
And special awards 

I can think of no other more important time for silence in Heaven than just before the return of earths rightful King, the Second Coming of our Savior- Jesus the Christ.

It might be that the inhabitants of Heaven are also commanded to remain silent in preparation of that sacred event. What better announcement than to preplan "everyone put on your best garments when we are asked to become silent!" Or they may be asked to change into their best clothing days in advance. 

Silence denotes respect, reverence, honor, praise, appreciation, and love. All the best when the Bridegroom comes to claim His bridesmaids.

When we see the final sign in heaven that Christ is coming to earth, I think after all the distraction we will witness, then seeing Christ finally coming we will all be in awe...we will all be SILENT....watching......and so thankful that the time has finally arrived!
